The Price of Tea in China is a nostalgic representation that evokes melancholic feelings of love and loss, while also exploring, through the power of words, themes of hope, fear, desire, and ultimately life itself. In this work, the artist merges his poetic vision with obsolete American English sayings.
Jack Pierson’s first solo exhibition at Christian Stein Gallery was presented in 2009.
Jack Pierson lives and works in New York and California. He employs photography, collage, sculptural assemblage, and installation in pursuit of themes such as love, longing, kinship, poetry, celebration, youth, fantasy, and identity. The artist’s mode of non-hierarchical cultural compilation and impulse-led editing allows him to create both personal and universal narratives across his multidisciplinary practice.
