Untitled, 1986
Iron sheets, lead, black paint
Cm.h. 200 x 900
The nine-meter-long Untitled from 1986 is composed of ten iron plates partially covered with sheets of lead. Holes, cuts, and scars traverse the surface, created through the action of molten lead on the metal. The monumental composition demonstrates Kounellis’ deep understanding of industrial materials, re-elaborated to challenge the traditional idea of painting.
